Maintain Compliance with all Applicable Laws, Rules and Policies.
- On an on-going basis, reviews laws and regulations that impact the credit union’s compliance requirements, with emphasis on the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), the USA Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
- Evaluate the credit union’s policies, procedures, products, and programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Make recommendations for change where appropriate.
- Review, revise and develop credit union forms, contracts, agreements, and disclosures to ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations. Interface with legal counsel and/or bonding agency to ensure that the terms and conditions set forth in forms, contracts, agreements and disclosures are accurate, complete, and meet the needs of and properly protect the credit union.
- Review all advertising and marketing material for compliance.
Establish and Maintain an Ongoing Compliance Program
- Develop and implement a compliance program and conduct compliance reviews in accordance with established standards and practices.
- Ensure that any change in policy or procedure is communicated to impacted departments, or the credit union as a whole, with clarity. Follow up to ensure new procedures are understood and implemented.
- Develop and maintain a Compliance Training Program which effectively addresses the requirements of applicable laws and regulations, the credit union’s related policies and procedures, and employee responsibilities. Coordinate with the appropriate departments, assist, or conduct compliance training for all applicable new and existing employees on an ongoing basis.
- Develop and maintain a current library of compliance resources and provide informational assistance as requested.
- Develop and lead a comprehensive vendor management program.
- Responsible for the maintenance of Verafin, the credit union’s enterprise-wide BSA/AML solution.
- Oversees preparation of suspicious activity reports and submits reports to the appropriate manager.
Coordination with Outside Examinations, Audits and Compliance Reviews
- Serve as the primary liaison for compliance examiners with their examinations, making available the information that is necessary to complete their examinations.
- Function as the primary liaison with federal or state examiners or outside auditors during compliance-related examinations. Ensure that compliance issues are adequately addressed with internal, external and NCUA examiners, and monitor corrective action of any compliance deficiencies identified in regulatory reports of examination.
- Assists in response to member or regulatory complaints of noncompliance, considering the nature of the complaint, Credit Union policies and applicable laws and regulations. Provides assistance as needed.
