VP of Operations for a Bank

This is a Fulltime position in Chicago, IL posted July 1, 2023.

We are currently seeking an experienced Operations Manager for our community banking clients. Located in Northeast side and North west side of Chicago. The Operations Department consists of a Call Center, Bookkeeping, Wire Transfers, Check Image Processing and Statement Processing. The successful candidate will have recent supervisory experience in an Operations Department in a Community Banking environment, as well as passion for leading, inspiring and training others. This individual supervises the daily operations of the Department and is primarily responsible for ensuring excellent service to internal and external customers.

This individual manages all aspects of the bookkeeping, accounting, check image processing, wire transfer, debit card disputes and call center departments. They coordinate activities involving internal operations’ including but not limited to; reviewing ACH, wire transfers, correspondent bank accounts and general ledger accounts. This person will advise and interpret policy and procedures for operational departments and make necessary changes to ensure efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Operations Department
  • Lead, coach, and train staff in the development of individual & team success
  • Complete & conduct performance evaluations and administer disciplinary actions
  • Manage training and development of staff in regard to bank policies, procedures, and operational integrity as well as all banking regulations
  • Ensure that efficient and proper internal policies, procedures and controls are continuously maintained for all work performed and develop new procedures when needed
  • Investigate and resolve complex issues and requests from Oxford’s internal/external customers, which may involve in-depth research and a comprehensive knowledge of all products and deposit regulations and laws
  • Effectively communicate with other managers as well as employees when appropriate
  • Resolve customer concerns with tact and diplomacy to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Constantly exercise confidentiality with customer information
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, regulations and Bank policies and procedures
  • Identify problems and areas for improvement
  • Handle problems as they arise in an efficient and timely manner
  • Schedule staff according to department needs through the ADP EZlabor system
  • Takes personal responsibility and ownership to learn and continually improve in all aspects of this position

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • 5 to 7 years recent supervisory experience in an Operations Department in a Community Banking environment
  • Strong experience and proficiency with FIS-IBS Insight System
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products; Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Strong aptitude for learning Bank systems
  • Exemplary listening & customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Organized and detail-oriented

    – Ability to interact successfully with all levels of Bank personnel in a professional manner
